The objective for this project is to find and redesign an existing website, with regards to how websites were designed throughout the history of web development. I chose to redesign Berkshire Hathaway, as the website currently only consists of a landing page of hypertext, leading to various PDFs and client websites.
You can visit their website here
The audience that Berkshire Hathaway attracts is mostly adults in the real estate industry, as well as investors and home buyers. As this is a company centered around real estate, the audience is mainly people from the ages of 18 through 55, as these are adults in their prime “money making” years who would be looking to invest their money, or to buy real estate.
This website is very simple, as the only content on the website are PDFs and links. This makes it easy for people to navigate by not having many distracting elements and colors. All of the information is laid out clearly, and all links seem to be very clearly explained via the hypertext content. The site is not clunky because of the lack of content.
This website is visually not pleasing to the eye. The colors seem muted and almost nonexistent, and there are no images or available information about the company on the homepage. There are links to view information, but no visible information or images other than hypertext. For my redesign, I would like to make the website feel more modern, with images and information that are structured to please and inform users, opposed to the website consisting of a “strictly-business” design.
Berkshire Hathaway’s website has no “additional features”.
